WELCOMES YOU
Ripple Affect
The Digital Age Learning Team has been working with the Crystal Springs Resort team in planning to ensure that we will provide a working experience that will engage all of you in a provocative and productive few day of challenging ideas, intense work, unexpected creativity, and true collegiality, all that will renew our spirits and our collective resolve to lead change in education.
THEME:
ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
The Institute is a multi-day retreat for teachers and school administrators from several schools and districts. This year participants include Bronx, New York City school districts, the Bridgehampton School District and teaching artists from the Philadelphia metro area. Over 2½ days, participants will work in teams to examine selected issues confronting schools in the midst of still recovering from a pandemic and transitioning back to in person learning, using the lens of digital technologies. Together, we will search for meaningful and practical ways to address the issues in our own practice to support our students, ourselves as educators and our families. By the close of the Institute, each of you will be expected to articulate short and long-term visions as well as begin developing a project that you will undertake in your classroom, throughout your school or at the district level. You will also be asked to build meaningful collaborations with one another to sustain your work across school and the district community in the coming year. Among us, there will be several guides that will share with you some of the progressive work being done in and out of classrooms. They will convene discussions, offer basic tips, run exercises in the use of different tools, advise you on project ideas, and support you in your journey of exploration and design. Our goals are to provoke you to think broadly about what things are timeless and essential in schools; as well as, to provide you with some time, some space, and some tools to make these things real and meaningful for next school year.

Ripple (AFFECT) EFFECT
Have you ever thrown a pebble into a pond and watched as the ripples spread outwards, affecting everything in their path? This is the essence of the ripple effect, a phenomenon that has far-reaching implications beyond the world of physics. In fact, the ripple effect can be seen in all areas of life, from personal relationships to global events.
Why is the ripple effect so important? Because it reminds us that our actions have consequences, not just for ourselves but for those around us. Every decision we make, every word we speak, has the potential to create a chain reaction that can either lead to positive change or negative consequences. By understanding the power of the ripple effect, we can become more mindful of our actions and take steps to create a better future for ourselves and those around us.
